Helicopters from Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) will fly over the spectators in downtown Fredericton during the Eclipse on Monday, April 8, approximately from 4:33pm – 4:34pm.

The No. 403 Helicopter Squadron, a squadron of the RCAF, based at 5 Canadian Division Support Base Gagetown, NB will fly along the path of the eclipse in downtown Fredericton at the point of max period of darkness.

This is a RCAF tradition that dates back to 1945 when the Royal Canadian Air Force viewed a total eclipse of the sun from the air for photographic and scientific observations. There were a few other occasions since then, one in 1954 and again in 1963 and of course, coming up once again right here in April 2024.
