Theatre UNB Presents Perfect Arrangement by Topher Payne from Thursday, October 26 to Saturday, October 28 at 7:30pm at UNB’s Memorial Hall.

At a time when long-established rights for members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community are under attack both at home and worldwide, Theatre UNB’s season opening production is set to look back to a time of frightening historical precedent.

Bob Martindale and Norma Baxter are employees of the U.S. State Department at the height of the Red Scare. Senator Joseph McCarthy has gone into full attack mode, focusing on exposing and terminating LGBT members from government departments. Norma and Bob have just been tasked with finding sexual deviants among their ranks. However, they have a secret: Bob and Norma are both gay, and they've each married each other's partners as a meticulously crafted cover.

Inspired by the true story of the early stirrings of the American gay rights movement, Topher Payne’s Perfect Arrangement uses the tropes of 1950s-era sitcoms in a play about two couples and their fight for love that begins in farce and ends in something much darker and more profound.
