Bard in the Barracks 2025

Bard in the Barracks returns for its 2025 season from June 20 to July 7, featuring two exciting Shakespeare productions on alternating evenings: Macbeth and The Merry Wives of Windsor, both directed by Len Falkenstein.

Macbeth will be staged as an immersive promenade-style production in the Fredericton Botanic Garden and Odell Park, where audiences will follow the action through the forest as night falls. With witches, ghosts, and epic battles, this thrilling tragedy promises a powerful and unforgettable experience. Last produced in 2010–11, Macbeth remains Bard in the Barracks’ most popular show—advance ticket purchase is strongly recommended.

In contrast, The Merry Wives of Windsor offers a fast-paced, 1960s mob wife comedy twist on Shakespeare’s classic farce. Performed in a traditional seated setting on the grounds of Christ Church Cathedral, it follows the comically misguided Sir John Falstaff as he tries to woo two clever, wealthy women—only to be hilariously outwitted.

With two distinct productions in two beautiful outdoor venues, Bard in the Barracks 2025 promises a season of unforgettable theatre.
