Starting January 25, take a stroll through Fredericton’s downtown to see the showcase of Ice Sculptures created by Chef Richard Chiasson of Ice Creations Glace. Richard has been creating ice sculptures since 1980 and returns to Fredericton to bring to life several custom pieces for downtown businesses. 

Bundle up and take a walk through downtown Fredericton and watch as beautiful masterpieces emerge from Chiasson’s picks, chisels and chainsaw! The sculptures will remain on display for as long as the weather cooperates.  

Each sculpture is expected to take between 60 and 90 minutes to complete. Estimated start times for each location is noted below:

  • 8:00am – Downtown Fredericton Inc. Office (349 King St.)
  • 9:30am – Hilton Garden Inn Fredericton Downtown (620 Queen St.)
  • 11:00am – Fredericton Public Library (12 Carleton St.)
  • 1:00pm – Savage’s Bicycle Centre (441 King St.)
  • 2:30pm – The Ten Spot (343 Queen St.)
  • 4:00pm – The Cove / Scout’s Original (280 King St.)

Richard Chiasson is a Chef instructor at the Collège communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick (Péninsule acadienne) and has been creating ice sculptures across North America since 1980. His company Ice Creation Glace is the only Atlantic Canadian company to make special ice for carving and he offers courses for chefs and artists wanting to learn the art of ice carving.
