In this four-day evening workshop, participants will be introduced to some of the basics of enameling. Enamel is glass in a powder form that is dusted and baked onto the surface of metal via kiln firing (exposure to 1500 degrees fahrenheit for 2 minutes) or torch firing (exposure to indirect flame for 30 seconds). Participants in the class will learn how to saw, sand, file, and drill metal. After learning these basic skills, the class will focus on basic enamel techniques. Following this, participants will be able to use these techniques to create an enamel glass painting (about 4 inches by 4 inches) to take home to be displayed.
