Artist talk with Peter Powning: A Long and Twisted Journey: The making of Gyre for the Harrison McCain Pavilion.
Peter Powning will speak about his commission Gyre, now installed in the Harrison McCain Pavilion. The talk will include a brief history of producing public art commissions across the country and the often complex path from idea to fabrication and installation of public sculpture. The artist will share the story of Gyre, how it came about and what turned out to be a personal challenge to fabricate. The talk will be followed by a question period.
The Capital Art Sale returns this December at the Capital Exhibit Centre, bringing Fredericton an exceptional showcase of local artistry. Explore paintings, photography, pottery, jewelry, prints, and more—all priced under $500.
