3 Days of Family Fun in Fredericton!

Day 1

Step back in time at Kings Landing where horse-drawn wagons, farm animals, and hands-on history await! Brought to life by costumed characters, immerse yourself in the unique 19th century experience. Don’t forget to refuel at the King’s Head Inn, the onsite restaurant offering a selection of traditional fare. 

On your way back to the city center, stop for a horseback excursion! Elite Equestrian is a fun yet relaxing family-friendly adventure. Offering scenic horseback trail rides for all ages, enjoy the beauty of nature, explore peaceful forest paths, and meet their many beloved horses. No experience needed! (Reservations required).

Spend your afternoon cooling off at one of our many aquatic attractions. Enjoy barrier-free access to splash and spray with shallow-watered play at the Wilmot Park Splash Pad, just 5 minutes from the heart of downtown. Soak up the sun on a sandy beach with warm freshwater swimming at Killarney Lake Beach, featuring lifeguards, washrooms, changerooms and over 30km of walking trails around the lake. Take on a fun-filled adventure at Quilli’s - a floating obstacle course! This 280-foot inflatable circuit will have you slipping, sliding, bouncing and laughing your way across waterslides, climbing walls and launch pads!   

End the day at a National Historic Site, the Historic Garrison District. Here you’ll find Officers’ Square; the place to be, hosting a variety of free summer events; Tuesday and Wednesday Concerts, Thursday community dancing, Friday movies under the stars, and more. Don’t miss the Garrison Night Market on Thursdays; a weekly explosion of food, culture and craft. Finish the night with a walking tour of downtown Fredericton - spooky style! Haunted Hikes by the Calithumpians theatre troupe is all about spooky stories and silly scares!  

Day 2  

Grab a family breakfast at Claudine’s Eatery; known for all-day breakfast, indulgent brunch specials and an inviting atmosphere. Enjoy delicious, home style meals with some east-coast flair!

Explore the wild side with the Great Canadian Beaver Pond Voyage at Mactaquac Park, just 30 minutes outside of Fredericton. Little kids and big kids alike will enjoy this outdoor adventure, which includes a guided tour, treasure hunt, critter dip, and more. The perfect combination of learning and fun! 

Hike and lunch with llamas at the Dancing Goat Therapy Farm. This gentle guided walk lets you explore scenic trails alongside friendly llamas, offering a fun and memorable outing for the whole family. It’s a chance to slow down, enjoy nature, and connect with the llamas in a relaxed, playful way. After the walk, families can enjoy a delicious farm-to-table pizza made with fresh, local ingredients. With a focus on fun, connection, and great food, it’s a great way to spend quality time together outdoors. (Reservations required).  

Putt and slide an afternoon away at Hartt Island. Featuring water slides, sprays, whirlpools, heated leisure pools and mini golf, it’s the perfect getaway for the whole family. Or, escape the heat at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery downtown, home to not only an incomparable collection of historical and contemporary paintings, sculptures, but also scheduled activities and art workshops for all ages! Check for the Art Cart Pop-Up Studio schedule, where children get hands-on with the art. 

For a fun and scenic dinner outing, rent scooters from Cruze Scooters and ride along the South Riverfront Trail to the Bill Thorpe Walking Bridge. Take a moment to enjoy the beautiful river views before crossing over to Picaroons, where you can relax with a delicious meal on their sunny, scenic, kid- and pet-friendly patio.  

Wrap up with high-speed thrills at Speedway 660, one of Canada’s premier racecar facilities, or a Fredericton Royals baseball game in historic Marysville. As the heart of baseball in our community, it’s sure to be a home run for the whole family.  

Day 3  

Chase a waterfall or meet some froggy friends at Hyla Park; Canada's first amphibian sanctuary and home to the rare gray tree frog (Hyla versicolor). Listen closely for their flute-like sounds, and be on the lookout for beavers, rare plants, and birds galore!  

Enjoy lunchtime laughs with the Calithumpians. Monday to Saturday, from Canada Day to Labour Day, enjoy free outdoor theatre on the Cathedral Green (150 Church Street) with fun and educational family-friendly performances. 

Plan an afternoon adventure that blends nature, art, and history! Head to Fredericton Junction’s Currie House Museum to explore local heritage and scenic trails. Then visit the Fredericton Botanic Garden  for Art in the Park, where artists create works inspired by the natural beauty around them. Feel free to chat with them about their inspiration and creative process! Or, stay downtown for the afternoon and dive into the region’s past at the Fredericton Region Museum, home of the famous 42-pound Coleman Frog. Continue the journey at the NB Sports Hall of Fame, where interactive exhibits, a virtual sports simulator, and stories of New Brunswick’s sports legends offer fun for all ages.
