Shane Perley-Dutcher is a Wolastoq mixed media artist from Neqotkuk Wolasqiyik (Tobique First Nation) in New Brunswick. He trained at the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design (NBCCD), earning a diploma in Natives Art Studies and Jewellery Manufacturing.
Perley-Dutcher draws his design inspiration from Wolastoqiyik traditional knowledge and contemporary aesthetics. He uses natural materials such as birch, cedar, spruce, ash, copper, silver, gold and platinum to create unique lines of jewellery and one-of-a-kind sculptures. He also gathers traditional materials for his art because it maintains his connection to the land and entails an important part of his creative journey.

Reframing Perspective is about creating work from women’s experiences. For design inspiration, Melanie Hamilton looked to female weaving students at the Bauhaus in Germany. She reclaims the use of soft sculptural materials and weaving techniques in three-dimensional furniture pieces, where her wood structures support the patterns and lines of soft material. These works illustrate the dynamic motion of a woven line and show that material can have both a physical and emotional weight.
Hamilton is an Atlantic Canadian craftsperson and visual artist specializing in finely crafted objects using solid wood and woven materials. Her one-woman workshop, Wooden Leg Studio, has been featured in numerous magazines and publications.

A graduate of the Fine Arts program at Mount Allison University and the Cranbrook Academy of Art in the United States, Susan Low-Beer is one of Canada’s pre-eminent ceramic artists. She has exhibited internationally and is in the collections of the Museum of History in Ottawa, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts and the National Museum of Modern Art in Japan. In 1999, she received the Saidye Bronfman Award for Excellence in the Fine Crafts and is a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts.
The Specimen works are elusive in their exact meaning and are rooted in abstraction. They read as organs of the body with tubes, veins and arteries that connect one form to another. Patchy and worn textured surfaces and precarious placements suggest both a vulnerability and a drollness to life passing. As metaphors, they create a narrative on the nuances and dynamics of human relationships.

Edward Burtynsky is regarded as one of the world’s most accomplished contemporary photographers. The predominant theme in his work is nature transformed through industry and he has documented some of the most poignant examples of this around the world. Often using an aerial vantage point, his large-scale photographs are rich in detail and vast in scale, sometimes verging on the appearance of painterly abstractions.
His photographs are included in the collections of over sixty major museums around the world, including the National Gallery of Canada, the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Tate Modern in London. His awards and distinctions include the TED Prize and the Governor General’s Award in Visual Media Arts.
This exhibition will present the entire Burtynsky gift of thirty-one large-format photographs from around the Earth
