For two weekends in December, Kings Landing comes alive for Christmas in the Valley. Visit historic homes, chat with villagers, join in singing carols, hop on a wagon ride, and get into the Christmas spirit as we wrap up our 50th anniversary year!
The villagers in the Hagerman, Joslin, Lint, Donaldson, Perley, Morehouse, and Ingraham homes will be so pleased to welcome you inside to enjoy a warm fire and see what they are cooking and baking. Each home will be themed by different eras and religious traditions; you can take part in a Christmas scavenger hunt to learn more about the symbolism behind these objects!
Decorating your home for the holidays is a sure way to get into the Christmas spirit and a beloved tradition for many households. The practice of placing evergreen boughs and trees inside the home dates back centuries. The popularity of other Christmas decorations like cards, handmade ornaments, candles, and Christmas crackers are often credited to Queen Victoria in the mid-1800s. Visit select homes at Kings Landing to take in the festive decorations and be inspired by the Victorian Christmas décor!
Meet the jolly man himself! Father Christmas will be reading stories and meeting children in the Lint Barn on Saturdays. You can also mark this holiday season by purchasing photographs with modern Santa Claus at the Slipp House on Saturdays and Sundays from 12-2 pm for $30.
Visitors can also enjoy a Christmas service at St. Mark’s Anglican Church at 2 pm both Sundays, December 8 and 15. Remember to stop by the Grant Store and the Peddler’s Market to pick up unique Christmas gifts from Kings Landing and local artisans!
Inside the Welcome Centre, stop by the Kings Landing: Etched in Time linocut and watercolour exhibition by Suzan Carsley, and check out our 50th anniversary exhibit!
The King’s Head Inn is only open for Christmas dinners that require online reservations (check the Kings Landing website for availability), but the Axe & Plough Café will serve warm beverages and soup to warm you up and fill your belly. Get warmed up before heading into the Village or on your way home. Click here to learn more about Christmas at the King’s Head Inn.
Visitors will also enjoy scenic strolls around the village to see all the equally impressive outdoor decorations. The horse and wagon will travel back and forth for visitors to hop on and off. You will notice the horses look extra fluffy as their winter coats are growing. It’s difficult to predict what the weather will be for early December, so be sure to check the weather before coming and dress appropriately!
Your visit to Kings Landing will be a great time to purchase a season pass for 2025, and we’ve introduced new perks!
