Fall into the past at Kings Landing this Autumn

Harvest is in the air at Kings Landing! Take a break from life and step back this fall to the peaceful and picturesque atmosphere of Kings Landing. Now that Kings Landing is open daily from 10 am to 5 pm, you have an opportunity every day until October 14 to take in the autumn breeze and colours!

Roam this historical village and get to know the wonderful characters. See the sawmill, visit the blacksmith shop, admire the fall décor, say hello to the loveable farm animals, and more. This village is brought to life by the sounds of chattering villagers and the smell of meals cooked by the hearth.

Enjoy a delectable Thanksgiving dinner at the King’s Head Inn! Made with farm-fresh ingredients, time-honoured recipes and a sense of history unique to New Brunswick, there’s a reason they are so popular. Seatings are available October 5, 6, 12, 13 & 14 at 11:30 am and 5 pm. With our new booking platform, you can purchase tickets with ease directly from our website – just click the “Book Now” button! Pre-booking is required – be sure to get your spot before seats fill up.

Celebrate 50 years of bringing history to life by honouring Kings Landing’s families and buildings during our themed weekends. Commemorate back to school with “Schools Days” on September 7 & 8; learn more about “Churches in the 19th Century” on September 14 & 15; find out about the Irish, British Home Children, and moving to new communities with “Moving in With the Donaldsons” on September 21 & 22 and “Crossing the Atlantic: The Killeens & British Home Children” on September 28 & 29 (with a visit from representatives of Home Children Canada on Saturday); and check out farmwork during “Down on the Joslin Farm” on October 5 & 6.

The biggest weekend of the fall is Thanksgiving from October 12 to 14. On October 12 at 1 pm, you can’t miss our Annual Thanksgiving Auction at the Theatre. The villagers have worked hard all season to prepare the finest quality of artisan goods for this event. There will be wooden furniture, wooden spoons, handspun yarn, baked goods, knitted items, and more! Make your bid on one-of-a-kind, handmade goods only found at Kings Landing. Keep an eye on our Facebook event listing to learn more about what’s up for auction.

When you visit, be sure to stop by our exhibits in the Welcome Centre. Before the season closes, check out “50 Years of Building Memories” celebrating how Kings Landing came to life. Many former employees, visitors and community partners were interviewed for this project. As well, there is a new thematic display each week to explore. Down the hall, admire linocuts created by artist Suzan Carsley with her exhibition, “Kings Landing: Etched In Time” (prints for sale). "Purchase prints at the gift shop featuring the sawmill, the Ingraham garden and more scenes of Kings Landing."

The last day of the 50th season falls on Thanksgiving Monday. Celebrate the holiday with your family and friends by taking one last stroll through the village. Before you leave, swing by The Peddler’s Market to stock up on exclusive 50th anniversary Kings Landing merchandise.
