The Fredericton Capital Region is hosting The Pan-American Black Bass Championship from September 25th-29th, this international fishing competition will attract more than 175 anglers from around the world, including Canada’s Bob Izumi, known as the Wayne Gretzky of fishing. This is the first time this international fishing tournament has been held in Canada. Anglers are attracted to the Wolastoq (also known as the Saint John River), as it is one of the only rivers in Canada where they can fish short nosed sturgeon, a muskie, and a striped bass in the same body of water.
