Well Picked: Where to Pick Berries in the Fredericton Capital Region

The Fredericton Capital Region is ripe with local produce, and berries are no exception! The berry picking season typically kicks off in June, and carries into July, depending on weather and crops. It’s prime time to grab a fresh snack, stock your freezer, or bake some yummy treats. Check out some of the charming local u-picks where you can harvest your own berries!

Strawberries, Raspberries & Blueberries

Located on Fredericton’s northside, just off of Sunset Drive, Sunset U-Pick is a popular patch where you can pick your own strawberries, raspberries and blueberries. Spend a couple hours picking, then pop over to Half Cut Brewing for some comfort food and a pint, you’ve earned it!

They are open for the season and operate weekdays 8:00 am-8:00 pm, Saturdays 8:00 am-5:00 pm, Sundays 11:00 am-5:00 pm. Hours are dependent on availability and weather, so be sure to check their Facebook page for updates, or call : (506) 282-0381

Strawberries & Apples

Enjoy a drive through the countryside and stop in at Gilbert’s Farm to grab some pre-picked berries, or head into the field yourself! Nestled in Burton, about a 30 minute drive from downtown Fredericton, the Gilbert Farm U-pick offers strawberry fields and an apple orchard for guests to pick. If you’re looking to extend your riverside drive, carry on to the historic Village of Gagetown for a hearty meal at Gagetown Grill & Smokehouse and a visit to Greig Pottery.

Strawberries

This U-pick strawberry farm is located in Keswick, a 25-minute drive from downtown Fredericton. With friendly, welcoming staff, and delicious strawberries, it's the perfect spot for your next pick-your-own adventure! To round out your day, stop by Mactaquac Provincial Park for a dip in the river!

Berry picking can be a fun and fruitful adventure for the whole family.
