Fall is apple season in the Fredericton Capital Region! Feel like baking an apple pie? Or maybe you’re just looking to have some hardcore family fun? Check out the in-cider scoop on apple u-picks in the Fredericton Capital Region!
Located in the charming Village of Gagetown, just 40 minutes from Fredericton, Charlotte’s Family Orchard hosts a huge variety of apples! Paula Reds, Melba, Jersey Macs and Yellow Transparent are available early in the season, along with plums, corn, squash and other vegetables. Later in the season, you can choose from 35 varieties including Honeycrisp, Cortland, McIntosh, Alexander, Wolf River, Dudley, Brunswicker, Russet, Jonagold, Ginger Gold, and Evangeline (a New Brunswick variety). Extend your visit to the village of Gagetown by stopping into Sweet Evan’s Cakes for a treat, a hearty meal at Gagetown Grill & Smokehouse and B&B, or the Old Boot Pub!

Only a 15-minute drive from downtown Fredericton, with several types of apples to choose from and a bustling play area for kids, Everett’s offers endless fun for the entire family. Pick some apples while you soak in the fall colours at the river, say "hello" to the horses, and grab some fresh pumpkins, squash or cider from the shop! While you’re in Island View, stop into Ivy’s Diner (open 7 days a week) for a home-cooked meal and fresh-baked dessert! Enjoy a drive through the countryside and stop in at Gilbert Farm to pick some Paula Reds, MacIntosh, Cortland, McCoun, Honey Crisp, Dudley, Wolf River, Gala and Spartans! Gilbert’s also grows and harvests strawberries, pears, peaches and plums. Nestled in Burton, Gilbert Farm is a quick 30-minute drive from downtown Fredericton and makes for a perfect pit stop on your scenic drive to explore Arcadia and the Grand Lake area.

With Jersey Macs, Paula Reds, Macintosh, Cortland, and Lobos, Johnny Appleseed is a classically charming orchard in picturesque Keswick Ridge. The orchard is only 20 minutes from Downtown Fredericton and is around the corner from Skinny’s Scoop & Café a full-service Ice Cream shop complete with a grill and petting zoo! Too cold for an ice cream? Stop into Keswick Kitchen and warm up with some baked goods, like their famous cinnamon rolls!

Yet another reason to visit the Village of Gagetown, Cameron’s Orchard offers Paula Reds, Macs, Cortland, Crabapples, and Russets, as well as plums and pears! Stop in to pick your own, or grab a basket of pre-picked produce. Cameron’s also sells jellies and maple syrup on site, and offers farm tours!

A gorgeous fruit farm on Keswick Ridge, River View grows Paula Reds, Macintosh, Cortland, Ginger Gold, Honeycrisp, Gala, Spartan, and Empire apples. They also harvest strawberries, raspberries, pears, plums, and pumpkins! While you’re visiting, take a wagon ride, play in the sandbox, or try navigating their corn maze! If you’ve fallen in love with River View Orchard, you’re in luck. River View is available to rent as a venue for weddings and other special events! Opened in 2022, Laughing Apple Orchard, situated close to Mactaquac Provincial Park in Scotch Settlement specializes in the tasty Honeycrisp apple! Come and pick as many apples as you can on weekends of late September to mid-October.

If you are looking to pick Golden Russet, Cortlands, MacIntosh and Spartans, then look no further than Hall’s Orchard! Located in Fredericton Junction, this family-owned orchard offers a delicious variety of apples for you to turn into tasty pies, crumbles, or enjoy on their own! Don’t miss out on a fun-filled apple-picking adventure! After picking some apples, visit the Sunbury Diner for a heart-warming meal.

Packed with antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and more, you have a chance to harvest these potent berries at Big Sky Sea Buckthorn ventures from late September until mid-October. Located in Douglas, Doucette’s U-Pick offers fantastic views overlooking the Wolastoq (Saint John River) from Fredericton’s north side. There are eight varieties of apples to choose from, delicious pears (Bartlett and Clapp’s Favorite), and wagon rides on the weekend.
